2019-2020 Report on Progress & Philanthropy
Looking back over the past year and a half, we see how quickly our lives can change. Yet, in spite of earthquakes and a global pandemic, TASIS Dorado remains a leader in education, honoring each student as an individual, and inspiring all to see learning not as an achievement, but as a lifelong pursuit.
We began the 2019-20 school year with a gala celebration to kick off our Wellness & Athletics Center Capital Campaign. On March 11, 2020, we held a forum for our community at which Board President Federico Stubbe, Jr. unveiled detailed plans for the Wellness Center and other campus projects. On the same day, the W.H.O. announced that COVID-19 was a pandemic that would affect the entire world. We all know what happened after that and I dare say we never imagined that we’d still be combatting the virus a year later!
Distance learning and the lockdown have forced us all to learn new skills and strategies. We understand better than ever the importance of talented teachers and social relationships for our children. I am proud of the way our students and faculty pursue excellence. If we stay true to our mission, we will remain united as a community and develop the skills and good character that will enable us to contribute to the world beyond this community.
We are passionate about learning at TASIS Dorado. Without education--without literature and science, without math and history and music and art, in summary, without learning, self-knowledge, and spiritual sensitivity--there is no kind of life worth living. Learning and relationships give quality and depth to life; I doubt there is much joy possible without them.
In the pages that follow, you will find the names of many who have helped us take TASIS Dorado to the next level. Over the years, the support of our donors has expanded to meet the evolving needs of our school. Our donors give generously to support our curious, passionate students working with caring, dedicated teachers. This report on our progress is one small way of expressing our gratitude for those who have helped in a special way.
Thank you. It is something we cannot say enough.

ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018
HIGHLIGHTS AND FINANCE REPORT
The mission of TASIS Dorado is to challenge and nurture students to pursue academic and personal excellence so that they become engaged global citizens and innovative, selfless leaders. We instill in our students the values of courage, kindness, integrity, humility and a commitment to building community.
This Annual Report offers highlights, as well as an overview of our financials and development, from 2017 to 2018.
2018 was a year of extraordinary teamwork and resilience at TASIS Dorado. In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, our school community united as never before. We joined forces to clean up and reopen the school, support our faculty and students, and serve many other communities around the island that were hit hard by the storm. We marveled at our teamwork and resilience and gave thanks for each person who sacrificed time and energy.
We are also immensely grateful for the many individuals who gave so generously to support our teachers and academic program. Notice the many names listed in the pages that follow. Two simple truths have motivated our school’s leaders, teachers, and parents: children deserve our best and even the best schools cannot stand still.
The philosopher Alfred North Whitehead wrote, “Education is impossible without a habitual vision of greatness.” Our students need a compelling vision of academic and personal excellence and a strong sense of belonging to a caring community. Our teachers and staff seek to nurture and challenge each of our young scholars, so that they become engaged global citizens and innovative, selfless leaders.
In spite of the effects of Maria, we began this current school year with our largest enrollment ever -- over 850 students. They too are the evidence of our teamwork and resilience.
You make all this possible. Your support and gifts allow us to fulfill our exceptional mission to challenge students from diverse backgrounds to the highest standards of excellence. Thank you for joining us in the crucial task of educating our children and casting a compelling vision for the future.
