Celebrating a Successful Year of Athletic Achievements

TASIS Dorado's 2021-2022 Athletic Season had one thing in common for all of our student-athletes: it's time to shake off the dust and get back to the court, fairway, field, pool, and track!

331 students, 60% of our student body, from grades 4 to 12, participated in a team sport this year. Of these student-athletes, 132 played more than one sport. TASIS Dorado student-athletes were also lucky to have the opportunity to compete in various tournaments and carnivals outside of the regular season, including three mini volleyball carnivals, one mini soccer carnival, one volleyball invitational tournament, one soccer invitational tournament, and two basketball invitational tournaments. In total, student-athletes participated in more than 220 athletic events during the 2021-2022 season!

A Banner Year for TASIS Dorado's Student-Athletes

After a year and a half hiatus, TASIS Dorado Bears returned with a fighting spirit. Both the Varsity Girls Soccer and Varsity Boys Basketball teams not only went undefeated all season but proudly showed their #TDBearPride with back-to-back PRHSAA Championships for the 2020 and 2022 athletic seasons. The Varsity Girls Basketball team also had an undefeated season and, for the first time in TASIS Dorado history, won the PRHSAA Championship. The Varsity Girls Volleyball team did our school proud with a first-time visit to the PRHSAA Finals and brought home the Runner-up title. Rounding out an awe-inspiring top-level display of sportsmanship, the Varsity Boys Soccer team brought home their own PRHSAA Championship.

4 volleyball, 5 soccer, and 7 basketball varsity student-athletes made the All-Alliance Team in their respective sports.

Our Junior Varsity Boys Soccer team won the PRHSAA Division Champion title, while the Junior Varsity Girls Basketball team also proved their #TDBearPride with the PRHSAA Division Championship and, for the first time, moved onto the postseason finals taking home the Runner-up title. The Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball team were also first-timers at their postseason PRHSAA finals and took home the Runner-up title.

Making their presence known early in their TASIS Dorado athletic careers, the Mini Girls and Mini Boys Tennis teams went undefeated for the season, plus our Mini Girls Tennis team won the LAMEPI Championship. Way to represent!

TASIS Dorado was also graced with PRHSAA's Cross Country top runners, Diego Méndez '24 (JV) and Lucas Méndez '26 (Youth) and Swimming Championship MVPs, Caleb Romero '26 and Naomi Romero '27, as well as LAMEPI's top golfer, Elizabeth Chiou '28.

Honoring Student-Athletes from the Class of 2022

During last week's Class of 2022 graduation, all graduating student-athletes were recognized as part of the emotional ceremony. Dean of Students and Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Mr. Garrison Knapp invited each student-athlete to stand as a team for a round of applause and celebration of their many accomplishments.

Additionally, Estefanía Montañez Batlle '22 and Todd Montañez Batlle '22 were presented with the TASIS Dorado Athletic Award, which is bestowed upon one female and one male athlete who has exemplified sportsmanship, leadership, and participation in numerous TASIS Dorado athletic teams during their four years of high school.
