The TASIS Dorado Bear Trek Jr. and Bear Trek Programs, in partnership with Invention Playground® and Camp Invention®, are a dynamic combination of hands-on exploration and pure fun. Designed for students from PPK to Kinder and 1st to 5th grade who wish to explore, build, and innovate while strengthening their language skills in a safe and relaxed environment. Through teamwork and engaging problem-solving tasks, students participate in a varied program of age-appropriate, hands-on, creative activities. Mornings are English-immersion and afternoons are Spanish-immersion. The TASIS Dorado campus is ideal for children to explore our beautiful surroundings while feeling safe and secure with their friends and teachers. Students may enroll for 1-4 weeks, with discounts available for siblings.

ALUMNI IN THE NEWS JORGE "JAY" RIVERA HERRANS TASIS Dorado Alumnus - Class of 2016 Playwright, Composer, Lyricist, and Actor The University of Notre Dame's Film, Television, and Theatre major Jorge "Jay" Rivera-Herrans, wrote and stars in the new musical "Stupid Humans" which premiered yesterday, February 21st, at The University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

TASIS DORADO MARINE BIOLOGY SUMMER PROGRAM is a one-week program for students currently in grades 3 - 5. The program is focused on exploring the organisms of our coastal ecosystems. Students will complete fish counts of the reef, seagrass surveys, and study the biodiversity of our coastal reefs. Students will snorkel and swim, as well as work in the Marine Biology Program Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico.

Last Thursday, TASIS board members came together to invite parents into the inner workings of the school and present its vision for the future. Held by the TASIS Dorado Parent Association at the TD Library Media Center, the board explained their role and responsibilities and proudly presented future developments. A Q&A session followed this.

Today, officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. TASIS Dorado senior, CAROLINA I. GONZALEZ FRONTERA, was named a semifinalist. These academically talented seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million for next spring.

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos today announced the selection of Cristina Trápaga of Dorado, Puerto Rico, who attends TASIS School in Dorado in Dorado, as a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar. Trápaga is one of 161 outstanding American high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, citizenship, service, and contribution to school and community. The U.S. Presidential Scholars will be honored for their accomplishments in Washington D.C., from June 24-26

It was a gorgeous day, and we are grateful to everyone who joined us on Saturday, September 22nd at the 1st TASIS Dorado 5k Bear Walk-Run. From our team at TASIS Dorado and the 5K committee, we bid a sincere THANK YOU to all the sponsors, volunteers, participants (over 500 registered participants!), athletes, and supporters who committed their time, efforts, and donations. TASIS Dorado Presents the Distinguished Class of 2018 On Thursday, May 31, 2018, 47 students donned caps and gowns on a beautiful evening at the TASIS Dorado Performing Arts Center. Awards were distributed, diplomas nicely presented, and our most recent graduates became our 8th Alumni class. The impressive list of colleges to which these students were accepted is a testament to their hard work and talents. We congratulate our dear class of 2018 on completing the final steps in their journey at TASIS Dorado and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Dear Class of 2018, Congratulations on reaching this important milestone in your education! At this graduation ceremony, I'd like to reflect briefly with you in three directions: Looking Backward, Looking Inward, and Looking Forward. Looking backward: This place holds so many memories! So many firsts! Do you remember your first day at TASIS Dorado, your first field trip, joining clubs, playing sports, going to Space Camp, your first performance in the PAC, and so much more? You have undergone a rigorous, college preparatory course of study--Membean and projects, essays and lab reports--and you survived and thrived! This school is not for the faint of heart!

The seniors of TASIS Dorado's Class of 2018 have overcome the challenges of Hurricane Maria's impact with grit and creativity, making their parents, teachers, and administrators extremely proud. When they graduate next month, they will celebrate a host of achievements, including 100 percent acceptance to competitive colleges and universities in Puerto Rico, the U.S. mainland and abroad, including admission to such honors programs as the UPenn Viper Program and an invitation to Yale University's Directed Studies program.

JOSÉ "Jochi" DEL RÍO PANTOJA, a graduate of TASIS Dorado in 2014 and one of our latest high flyers, is fervently probing the nanoscale mysteries of biochemistry. After weighing up offers to join several Ph.D. programs, he has settled on enjoying a full scholarship at Harvard University. The Ceiba Donor Recognition Tree was installed for members of our TASIS Dorado community to make donations in their name or a loved one's name on an engraved bronze leaf, wood branch or trunk piece. You can also have it personalized with engraved messages or company logo. Some of the branches are already engraved by graduation year and some leaves have already been purchased and engraved with the names of the students.

The TASIS Dorado Spring musical production of "Disney's High School Musical Jr.," directed by Axel Serrant and produced by Drama teacher Lourdeliz Ramos, was a resounding success and our grandest production to date, playing to a full house on both April 13th and Saturday the 14th at the PAC!

We are proud to announce that our two TASIS Dorado top-scoring students, ENRIQUE RIVERA FERRAIOULI (AMC 10A) and to ERIC CARLSON (AMC 12A) have been invited to take the American Invitational Mathematical Examination (AIME), which is equivalent to passing onto the second round of the AMC.

TASIS Dorado Senior Earns Prestigious Gold Key Award for her Artwork DANIELA MOLL TOSTE '18 has been awarded the prestigious Gold Key award by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Gold Key works are automatically considered for national-level recognition. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, are the nation's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition initiative for students across the country in grades 7–12.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) has appointed MS. MELISSA ARROYO RIVERA to its Student Leadership Advisory Committee to support the association's efforts to build student engagement, service, leadership, and voice for a two-year term. She is the only National Junior Honor Society Adviser from the U.S. & Puerto Rico to be chosen for this appointment. TASIS Dorado 7th-grader NADINE RODRÍGUEZ was selected as one of two middle-level representatives to the committee. Ms. Melissa and Nadine will meet with the committee on January 24-26, 2018 and will also participate in an educational briefing on Capitol Hill on January 25, 2018.
