Societies & Clubs

TASIS Dorado offers a wide array of extracurricular activities. Some academic societies extend membership by invitation only, but many organizations welcome any interested student.

Student Council

Secondary students elect the student body President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Board leads the school for one academic year. Each grade from 6th - 12th elects a class board.

National Honor Society (NHS)


High Honor Roll students in the 10th, 11th and 12th Grades who also display positive character traits may be invited to apply for membership in the NHS. NHS members elect a board to a one-year term. NHS members engage in numerous community service projects.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

High Honor Roll students in the 7th, 8th and 9th Grades who also display positive character traits may be invited to apply for membership in the NJHS. NJHS members elect a board to a one-year term. NJHS members engage in numerous community service projects.

Model United Nations (MUN)

The Model UN Club is open to any students in 7th-12th Grades interested in local, national and international affairs. MUN students compete in league conferences approximately monthly, and TASIS Dorado hosts a conference annually. Each year approximately 15 students are selected to compete at the ILMUNC conference at UPENN or the NAIMUN conference at Georgetown University. MUN members elect a board.

French & Italian Honor Societies

The French and Italian Honor Societies induct academically successful students in French or Italian III or AP, with a strong interest in promoting the French and Italian languages and cultures. Members present a very popular Franco-Italian night every year.

Interact Club

Members of the Interact Club, an off-shoot of the Rotary Club, engage in numerous community service activities such as collecting food for underprivileged families. Members elect a board that is responsible for coordinating activities with the Dorado Rotary Club.

English Forensics

TASIS Dorado's Forensics team has been highly successful, winning first place in Puerto Rico's most competitive Category A for three years in a row. Team membership is by audition and is highly competitive. The annual competition is held in April each year.

Spanish Oratoria

A place on the Spanish Oratoria (Oratory) team is by audition, and it is highly competitive. Competitors work with their advisor to select and learn a piece, and they practice through the year until the competition in March or April of each year.

Math Team


Puerto Rico has an extremely competitive series of math competitions, and the TASIS Dorado teams are very successful. Middle School and High School teams compete on the school circuit, and team members typically perform well in the Math Olympics sponsored by the UPR Mayaguez campus. Two students have competed internationally.

Art Honor Society

TASIS Dorado fosters an appreciation of beauty and the arts, and the Art Honor Society recognizes the most talented of the students.

Thespian Honor Society

TASIS Dorado is full of tremendous performers! The Thespian Honor Society offers membership to top actors, members of the Forensics team and members of the Oratoria team.

Tri-M Music Society

The Music Society is for high-achievers with a passion for making music. They promote the enjoyment of music by all.

Stage Band

All TASIS Dorado students are introduced to musical instruments, but the Stage Band is for dedicated musicians who wish to take their performance to new levels. The Stage Band performs in at least one concert per semester and provides much of the music for the annual school musical. Membership is by audition.

Batucada

You know there's a party when you hear the beat of the Batucada! They play their festive music at concerts, assemblies, pep rallies and through the halls of the school!

Robotics


STEM is the name of the game, and TASIS Dorado fields Middle School and High School Robotics teams that compete around the island. A win in the Puerto Rico finals means a trip to the world finals. A Middle School team competed in California in 2014.

Other clubs include: Marine Biology Club, Environmental Science Club, Science Bowl Team, Art Club, Chess Club, Club de Lectura de Español, Geography Club, Girls Can Code Club, Science Bowl Teams and more.
