Academic Travel Program

TASIS Dorado offers numerous opportunities to supplement classroom learning with outdoor activities, field trips throughout Puerto Rico, academic trips out of Puerto Rico and summer travel trips. Trips are supervised by school personnel and sometimes additional responsible adults, as approved by the school.

Sabanera Dorado

We are fortunate to have the beautiful grounds of Sabanera Dorado at our doorstep. Our greenhouse serves as a classroom, laboratory or even a community service center while the lakes offer scientific investigation, kayaking or quiet inspiration. The hills behind the school offer good exercise, spectacular views and even a Taino petroglyph.

Field Trips

Students of all ages travel throughout Puerto Rico in conjunction with classes in English, Spanish, History, Science and more. Kindergarteners might see butterflies at Aula Verde while 6th Graders see a working dairy in action in Hatillo.

Overnight Field Trips

High School Juniors and Seniors enjoy overnight field trips to take full advantage of what a municipality has to offer. Recent years have seen trips to Guánica, Rincón and Vieques.

Space Camp

The first trip outside Puerto Rico comes in the 6th Grade when the class heads to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama for a week of scientific exploration.

Model United Nations

Our team competes in a highly competitive local Model UN league, and in the second semester we send a delegation to compete in the ILMUNC conference held by UPENN or in the NAIMUN conference held by Georgetown University.

French Student Exchange

Students in French III or AP French are delighted to host visitors from France for two weeks of learning and fun. The hospitality is reciprocated when our students spend two weeks living with a French host family and attending classes at a school in Nîmes, France.

Summer Travel Program

Every summer TASIS Dorado teachers chaperone an educational trip to a foreign destination. Last year's group visited Japan, and the previous year's trip was to Australia.
