TASIS Dorado's exciting June enrichment programs will provide your child with unforgettable summer experiences. We offer high-quality activities in English and Spanish that are fun, creative, and intellectually stimulating. All of our programs make full use of TASIS Dorado facilities and surrounding areas (e.g., greenhouse and Sabanera pool) and are staffed by experienced teachers and staff from our school.
This year, we are delighted to present our unique summer programs:
The TASIS Dorado BEAR TREK JR and BEAR TREK Programs, in partnership with Invention Playground® and Camp Invention®, are a dynamic combination of hands-on exploration and pure fun. Designed for students from PPK to Kinder and 1st to 5th grade who wish to explore, build, and innovate while strengthening their language skills in a safe and relaxed environment. Through teamwork and engaging problem-solving tasks, students participate in a varied program of age-appropriate, hands-on, creative activities. Mornings are English-immersion and afternoons are Spanish-immersion. The TASIS Dorado campus is ideal for children to explore our beautiful surroundings while feeling safe and secure with their friends and teachers. Students may enroll for 1-4 weeks, with discounts available for siblings. See our webpage for more details about each thematic week.
Our MARINE BIOLOGY program is a one-week program for students currently in grades 3-5. The program focuses on exploring the organisms of our coastal ecosystems. Students study the biodiversity of various coastal reefs, complete fish counts, and examine the importance of seagrass. Students will snorkel and swim throughout the week, and have experiences indoors at the Marine Biology Program Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus.
Some of the places that we visit (subject to change):
- Vegabajeños Impulsando Desarrollo Ambiental Sustentable (VIDAS)
- Reserva Marina Arrecife de la Isla Verde
- Reserva Tres Palmas at Rincón
- Reserva Natural del Escambrón - Scuba Dogs
- Reserva Las Cabezas de San Juan-Seven Seas Beach at Fajardo
Middle School students (6th-8th) interested in exploring the world of technology and engineering will love our STEAM Fab Lab Summer Program! Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Fab Lab one-week program will focus on designs for environmental conservation and restoration. Students create hands-on projects in the Fab Lab and have special classes and activities. They will invent and design their own creations in our state-of-the-art Fab Lab, using cutting-edge technology such as 3D scanning, 3D printing, and coding, as well as other tools used in the "maker" world. Join the fun!
For the artistic and ambitious middle and high school students, we offer the intensive Visual Arts Summer Workshops an immersive studio experience designed for those who are interested in visual arts or ceramics to help them deepen foundational skills and develop their creativity. Students engage in three hours of guided studio instruction per day.
In this intensive, one-week Visual Arts workshop, students will develop fundamental art skills and expand their artistic expression, style, and visual vocabulary. Students will be guided and mentored by TASIS Dorado Upper School Arts teacher, Lourdes Rosa, and make use of the campus's spacious studios and equipment as they learn and practice with a wide range of mediums that include collage, drawing, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, mixed media, and compositions among others. This course is suitable for students of varying degrees of experience. Previous drawing knowledge is required.
The TASIS Dorado Advanced Visual Art Workshop is designed for ambitious high school students who have a strong interest in visual arts. The workshop focuses on studio areas of drawing, painting, printing, and mixed media, which are designed to help students deepen foundational skills and develop their creativity. Students engage in three hours of guided studio instruction per day. During this time, they will develop new skills, refine their technique and artistic expression, and expand their understanding of art and design.
This intensive workshop covers a wide array of forming methods such as hand-building, coil, slap, and pinch. Students learn to build ceramic objects and are introduced to a variety of surface treatments that include texturize, imprints, glazing and under-glazing. Our ceramic studio is equipped with the proper tools and materials, including an electric kiln. Emphasis is placed on the use of clay as an expressive material.
In addition to our local offerings, TASIS has summer programs available at our sites in England, France, and Switzerland.
